Old Kane Springs & Sandstone Cyn - Anza Borrego - Apr 2009

We were on our way to Sandstone Canyon to photograph the Xterras in the narrow parts of the canyon, and decided to try a new route over to Ocotillo Wells. Old Kane Springs Road runs from Hwy 78 over to Split Mountain Road, following a row of power poles. Along the way is Harper Canyon Road, a sandy trail that tracks south for a few miles before ending at a large pile of boulders. A large Cactus Garden sits near the intersection of Old Kane Springs and Harper Canyon roads, it has the most varied collection of cactus in one place of any I've yet seen in Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
