Olympus Pen E-P2 First Shots
This gallery is an assortment of shots taken over about a two-week period with my new Olympus Pen E-P2, all with the Olympus 17mm f/2.8 pancake lens. It won't replace my dSLR, and it will take some getting used to, but so far things are looking pretty good. These images were all shot as jpeg, using the Large-Fine setting, mostly on Vivid, with no change from default to the color saturation, contrast or sharpness settings. Almost all were shot using the Pattern metering, mostly in Aperture Priority. If you roll your mouse over the display image on the right there is an Info button which will display the camera settings. Many of these shots are sequential at varying aperture or other settings in order to test the results. All but #120 were shot handheld. All were shot using Auto White Balance. Almost all were shot with Image Stabilization set to On. Most were shot using Auto Focus, a few from Balboa Park and Little Italy on 7/24 were shot using a hyperfocal technique. Almost all images are straight out of the camera, a few have been cropped, but the original is generally displayed alongside. Files were uploaded to iPhoto from the camera, then exported as jpeg with max 1,500 pixel size for display here. On a few from Balboa Park, the white balance was accidentally set wrong, so I did try to warm those up a bit in iPhoto. Depending on how the controls are set on the camera, it is easy to inadvertently reset the WB to something you're not expecting, in this case, florescent.
